Rail anchors,also called anticreepers, are used in the fastenings system for creep resistance function.They are made of spring steel with elasticity that attach to the underside of the rail baseplate and bear against the sides of the sleepers to pvent longitudinal movement of the rail, either from changes in temperature or through vibration, prolonging the life of rail ties.Rail anchors grisps the steel rail during the train running through the steel rail.

Rail anchors transmit static and dynamic longitudinal forces in the rail to the cross tie. A sufficient number of anchors are required to hold the rail in a fixed position.
